Sony SNAP is developer program in which Sony attempts to leverage the recent popularity of Objective-C and Cocoa so these developers can code for Sony platforms. The foundation upon which this project is based comes from the GNUstep community, whose origin dates back to the OpenStep standard developed by NeXT Computer Inc (now Apple Computer Inc.). With the success of OS X and iOS, Apple has managed to revive OpenStep and Objective-C.
