Camera+: Best way to capture a whiteboard →
I’m a very visual guy so I always like to brainstorm with my whiteboard.
Photos of whiteboards never produce a great result; they look blurry, unreadable, dark, and you can be seen in the reflection.
Playing around with Camera+ I came across a nice setup which makes whiteboard photos look fantastic, even with the fact that I have an iPhone 3GS and small handwriting.

Resign Patterns →
A brilliant set of software patterns we all know too well when dealing with legacy software.
One of my favorite:
2.5 Fromage
The Fromage Pattern is often full of holes. Fromage consists of cheesy little software tricks that make portability impossible. The older this pattern gets, the riper it smells.
One of my main goals as a developer is to try not to write code which will become...

Very thorough and interesting answer by Mark Hughes, a screenwriter.
The genius of Batman is that it pretends to be realistic, it lets us convince ourselves that with enough money and training, we could become Batman, too. But it’s still fantasy, it’s just a fantasy that is more compelling and convincing and thus more fun. Mark Hughes

This TED talk might not be as inspiring to watch as others are but the ideas and technologies presented have huge implications. Basically these neuroscientists are able to “hack” into a neuron’s DNA encoding and change it so it produces these proteins which absorb light and transform it to electricity. By doing this, the scientists can trigger these neurons with light or shut...

How software companies die →
Here’s the problem that ends up killing company after company. All successful software companies had, as their dominant personality, a leader who nurtured programmers. But no company can keep such a leader forever. Either he cashes out, or he brings in management types who end up driving him out, or he changes and becomes a management type himself. One way or another, marketers get control.
